This year’s SALALM conference was hosted by the Ibero-Amerikanische Institut (IAI), and I had the opportunity to take a tour of the library. The IAI hosts the largest collection on Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the Caribbean in Europe. The library’s holdings cover material about belles-lettres, humanities, social sciences, economics, as well as legal material.

As an interesting bit of information; the winners of the 2009 Dakar race were using information from maps at the IAI.

Este año, la conferencia de SALALM fue organizada por la Ibero-Amerikanische Institut (IAI), y tuve la oportunidad de hacer una visita a la biblioteca. El IAI alberga la colección más grande de América Latina, España, Portugal, el Caribe y en Europa. La biblioteca contiene de material sobre bellas letras, humanidades, ciencias sociales, la economía, así como de derecho.

Como dato curioso, los ganadores de la carrera Dakar 2009 utiliza información de los mapas en el IAI.
